I hope everyone had a great Easter! The weather was really nice in Denver this weekend, and it's finally starting to feel like spring around our house. The holidays are so much fun as Beckett becomes more aware and interested, and because he seems to loves art projects, this year I really wanted to help him decorate eggs. But the idea of dying eggs with a one year old seemed crazy, and I wanted to do something that he could really participate in, so I had been ... View the Post

Drawing Backyard Inspiration from a Favorite Vacation Photo
What's the weather been like in your neck of the woods? I know in some parts of the country it's felt like summer for months already, but here in Denver it was snowing at the end April, and was rainy and chilly for the first half of May. But it's I'm finally feeling like we can start getting outside and enjoying the backyard... perfect timing since I'll be sharing some updated backyard photos as part of a summer home tour next week. Our backyard is already pretty colorful {as you can see in ... View the Post
Pops of Color on the Front Porch
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer! After a spring filled with opposite extremes here in Denver - gorgeous blue skies and warm weather one day, snow the next - we finally found time in late May, right before baby Cooper arrived, to do a bit of sprucing up on our front porch. While there is never a shortage of color inside my house - our front porch has been lacking color ever since we moved in. I love the stone on our house, but the ... View the Post
5 Minute Organizing Projects
Today (Fri. 2pm) and tomorrow (Sat.11 am), I'm speaking at the Denver Home Show discussing my 10 Steps to Get Organized and Stay Organized. So, this week, it's all organizing, all the time! On Wednesday, I answered a common reader question by compiling a list of my favorite, go-to organizing products. And today, for Five Minute Friday, I've rounded up all of the five minute organizing projects that have previously been featured on this blog {links below}. If you are viewing this post in an ... {decorating with style} It’s Almost One Room Challenge Time Again!
Hi all! I'm sorry it's been a little quiet around here this past week! I spent most of last week preparing to speak at the Denver Home Show, which happened over the weekend, and this week I'm working like crazy behind the scenes because I have so many exciting things coming up in the next few weeks - including the return of the One Room Challenge! But I'll get back to that in a minute. This weeks lack of posts will more than be made up for next week! It's going to be jammed packed ... View the Post
The No-Sew Way to Reupholster Outdoor Cushions
'Out of sight, out of mind' is a real thing! Last fall, I had good intentions to get our outdoor cushions reupholstered so they'd be ready for this spring. But then we packed everything away, covered the furniture for the winter. I totally forgot about the cushions right up to the moment we uncovered them last month and I remembered that we couldn't use them in their current condition. I made a few phone calls and quickly learned that getting the cushions professionally reupholstered would ... View the Post

I am so excited to show you our brand spanking new RockSolid metallic garage floor coating! Isn't she stunning?! {Yep, I've decided she's a she.} We are well on our way to transforming the garage in to our very own DIY retreat! In this post, I have lots of photos and a full tutorial of this shiny, happy metallic floor finish. First though, I have to come clean and admit that this was one of those DIY projects that I really wanted to do, but I was so scared I'd mess it up! Now that ... View the Post
{seasonal style} Let It Snow Inside
We had sub-zero temperatures in Denver all of last week, and while it was too cold to play outside in the snow, I instead had fun decorating with snowflakes inside. Last year I stocked up on large, felt snowflake ornaments at Target (only $1 each - what a deal!). Many of those snowflakes made their way onto our beautifully baby-friendly Christmas tree, and the rest are now part of a fun window display in our kitchen. We have a lot of long, thin windows throughout our house, which ... View the Post
{diy with style} Curb Appeal Dreaming…
Our urban neighborhood has lots of perks, like being within walking distance of great restaurants, shops, and even the most charming little library. But one thing you don't get in the city is a big yard. I'm not complaining. I wouldn't trade our location for anything. But we really need to make the most of our limited outdoor space! Right now, our front landscaping leaves a bit to be desired. I'm determined to change that this year, and I'm partnering with RoundupĀ® For Lawns to make that a ... View the Post
The Language of Flowers
My book club is one of my guilty pleasures! I love having an excuse to read a good book every month {and I love that my book club girls really read the books}! This month, we read Vanessa Diffenbaugh's The Language of Flowers, and beside being a moving story about a woman with a gift for flowers who is struggling to overcome her past, the book also inspired me to learn more about the meanings behind the flowers that we give and receive. With Valentine's Day just one week ... View the Post
How to Hang Patio String Lights
Raise your hand if you love the look of string lights... Yeah, me too!! Every time we would eat on a restaurant patio with the glow of string lights overhead or stroll through Denver's Larimer Square, I would dream about hanging patio string lights over our backyard! Ā But if we were going to do it, I wanted to do it right - with commercial grade light strands and guide wires. The installation process seemed very intimidating to us, and we weren't sure where to begin, so we finally enlisted the ... View the Post
