Both of my boys go to preschool two days a week, and they do an art project every day. We also do a lot of art projects at home, so all the creativity was starting to pile up. I used to put all of the art in a basket in our entry way table, but I knew I needed a better long term solution. I have fun long term plans for documenting our boys' art work in books so that we don't have to keep every individual piece of paper. I want to make one book for their toddler/preschool years art, one for ... View the Post

{one room challenge} Week 3 – The Rock & Roll Playroom Got a Dose of Not-So-Heavy Metal
Another week of the One Room Challenge has come and gone, and I'm definitely starting to feel the pressure, especially since I'll be out of town for five days next week traveling to and attending the SNAP blogging conference. I am so excited to be headed to SNAP for the first time and for the opportunity to catch up with some of by blogging girlfriends, and to make lots of new friends. But the timing of the conference - during week 4 of a 6 week design challenge - is, shall we say, less than ... View the Post
{annual report} What Got Done in 2016, What Didn’t, and What’s On the List for 2017
I'm not the best at formal goal setting, but I am a big list maker. Ever since we moved into our current home {8 years ago}, Scott and I have had a running list of household projects we want to tackle. It's a long and daunting list, but looking over it helps us determine what we want to save and budget for. A couple of years ago, we decided to break down our massive, long term list, and start mapping out priorities one year at a time. And I thought, why not document it on the blog to hold ... Interchangeable Beaded Watch Bands Make a Quick Gift
I was shopping at JoAnn Fabric a while back... or, more accurately, I was browsing JoAnn walking up and down every aisle. Anyway, I came across a display of watch faces and coordinating beaded watch bands. They were cute, but none of the watch band options really fit my style. I was about to walk away empty handed, but then I saw it... a black and white stripes that remind me of Kate Spade, and a half price sign! How could I not buy a black and white striped watch face for only $10?! But I ... View the Post

Letter Photo Display for Mother’s Day
Sometimes projects don't turn out as well as you envision them in your head, but then every once in a while a project turns out even better than you pictured it - and man is that exciting! That was the case with the wood letter photo displays I created for Mother's Day. The best part of this project is that it can be so easily personalized, and it's also fun and easy to get the kids involved! To create a very special gift for my boys' Nana, I let them paint the letters ... View the Post

How to Design a Shared Family Room and Playroom
Like many families, we spent much of our summer outdoors - exploring the mountains, walking to the park, and playing in the backyard. But now that fall is here and winter is right around the corner, we are spending much more of our family time indoors, specifically in our basement family room, which also serves as the kids playroom. Today I'm sharing my five of my best tips for creating a shared family room and playroom that is comfortable and works well for the whole family. I am ... View the Post
{link party} The Creative Circle – Week 11
Welcome to The Creative Circle link party - a place to share and find inspiration for your home! Does it feel like winter or spring in your neck of the woods? It was in the 70's yesterday, but this morning I woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground. I can't complain, because we can definitely use the moisture, but I was really loving the warm weather and the spring decor I'm seeing all over blogland is so cheerful and happy! In fact, my featured picks from last weeks party all feature one ... View the Post
{decorating with style} Mood Board: Vintage Preppy Little Man’s Lounge
UPDATE: This mood board was the winner, and the room is now complete. Tour the completed Vintage Preppy Little Man's Lounge. To quickly bring you up to speed, we are in the process of deciding how to decorate Beckett's big boy room - a room he will move in to right around the time he turns two years old, and which will allow Cooper to then move into the nursery. We have lots of ideas for Beckett's room, so I am compiling a few different mood boards to help us make the decision. I ... View the Post
DIY Play Tent With Roof Made From Upcycled Neckties
Boy Mom Madness continues, and today we are talking D.I.Y. for the B.O.Y. This is a topic I just love, and it's the perfect opportunity for me to share a tutorial that is almost a year overdue! When I designed my son Beckett's "big boy" room, I spent many weeks blogging about the DIY projects in the room {no less than 15 DIYs!}, until I feared that you must be getting sick of hearing about that room {because I was getting sick of writing about it}. I promised to return with the details of ... View the Post
