I have something super fun for you guys today in place of my normal Five Minute Friday post. The uber talented and stylish Charlotte, from Ciburbanity {aka City Suburb Sanity}, invited me to participate in the fall round of Swap It Like It's Hot, and after having followed this awesome series on other blogs in the past, I jumped at the change to be a part of the fun! Here's how it works... bloggers sign up on a list, and then each goes shopping at local thrift stores to purchase one or ... View the Post

The Stylish, Smart Device That’s Keeping My Kids Safer
Out of the blue, my six year old came up to me a couple of weeks ago and started running his hands through my hair. His little fingers were clearly searching for something. I asked him what he was doing, and he turned to his four year old brother and said, "I can't find them, but I know mom REALLY does have eyes in the back of her head." I couldn't stop laughing! I don't even remember telling them this, but I must have said it at some point in time, and they'd been having a debate about whether ... View the Post
Modern Dining Room Makeover
I couldn't be more excited to share our dining room makeover with you! This has been my eighth One Room Challenge, and as always it was a race to the finish line... but we made it and the space turned out better than I had imagined. It also remains one of the hardest spaces in our house to photograph, so I hope my pictures do it justice. Our kitchen dining area was the first to be decorated when we moved into our house ten years ago this month. That's because it was one of the few rooms ... View the Post
{outdoor style} How to Get Your Dream Patio On a Budget
Last week, I shared a tour of our backyard transformation, along with some tips for turning your patio into a comfortable outdoor living room for the whole family. My number on piece of advice for creating your dream outdoor space is to shop the end of season clearance sales! The good news - those "end of season" sales are already in full swing even though it's only mid-summer. That means you can grab the patio furniture you've been dreaming of for a bargain right now, and still get ... View the Post
Indoor Flower Boxes
I'm jealous of those with green thumbs because mine are most definitely black! Even with drip lines and automatic timers that water my potted flowers outside, I can still hardly keep anything alive. So when it comes to the indoors, I love having a vase of fresh blooms on the counter, but other than that, faux is how I roll! I wanted to add some more color to the kitchen for spring and summer, and I envisioned some bright pink blooms {fake of course}, but unlike the tall bottles of cherry ... View the Post
Graphic Glam Master Bathroom Makeover
I recently read a quote from interior designer Ken Fulk that said, "Design should inspire and make you smile, and should never be a bore." Just six short weeks ago our master bathroom was definitely a bore, but now it's so graphic, and glam, and just plain pretty, that I can't stop smiling from ear to ear. During the course of the One Room Challenge, our bathroom has gone from the most ignored room in the house, to my very favorite room! I'm so excited to finally be able to share it with ... Fall Hot Drink Station + 20 Hot Drink Recipes
I'm so ready for fall! Usually I'm sad to see the warm summer days coming to an end, but this year I'm really craving some crisp fall weather. In part because I can't wait to start jeans and sweaters again. And jackets! I'm a bit of a jacket hoarder - as evidenced by my coat closet. My other favorite part of fall is sipping on a hot drink on a cool day. It makes me feel all warm and cozy, and always seems like a special treat. I'm really not much of a coffee person, but give me an apple ... View the Post
Valentine’s Day Decor: DIY Kate Spade Inspired Xs and Os
Raise your hand if you love Kate Spade. Yep, that's what I thought! Me too! I love all things Kate Spade, but those iconic black and white stripes and gold polka dots are especially swoon worthy! So when I decided to add some quick and easy Valentine's Day decor to our home, I drew my inspiration from Kate. As you probably know by now, paper mache letters from Hobby Lobby are one of my favorite craft supplies. I've used them for numerous other projects {like the Restoration Hardware ... View the Post
How to Organize a Nursery Closet
Babies may be little, but their stuff sure can take up a lot of space! That's why I knew that the small closet in our nursery was going to need some upgrading in order to be functional both now, and in the future. The closet is narrower than a typical reach in closet, and it originally had sliding doors which only allowed half of the closet to be accessed at one time. Each sliding closet door was only 17.5 inches wide, making it very difficult to access the ... View the Post
{organizing with style} Project Paint Storage and a Free Printable
To say we have a lot of latex paint might be an understatement! When we bought our home, the builder left us a touch up kit with 2 quarts of each color of paint used throughout the house (including the original wall colors, the trim, ceilings, and closet interior paints). Additionally, we have since repainted many of the rooms in the house, resulting in a lot more leftover paint (and in the case of the ombre stripes in the nursery we used five different colors). Until a few weeks ... View the Post
Stylish & Chic Thanksgiving Place Cards
With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, I thought it would be fun to round up some quick and easy ways to create place cards to help you set your table in style! In keeping with the theme of Five Minute Friday, each of these place card ideas should only take you about five minutes! Peacock feathers are one of my favorite ways to add some unexpected color to a fall table, so last year I created these hand stamped peacock feather place cards. I love the modern simplicity of these quick ... View the Post
