While I’m not totally smitten with the tile in the shower, I certainly can’t complain about the size or the dual shower heads. I thought I was going to love having a bench in the shower as well, but ours turns out to be too narrow to be useful. It’s too shallow to really sit on, but it does make a handy perch for leg shaving, so it’s got that going for it.
What do you say about a water closet? It’s really not much to look at. Which is unfortunate, because that is exactly what we look at from our bedroom. Yep, when I look into the bathroom from my bed, the toilet is the first thing I see. Awesome!
You might notice that we have a TV in the bathroom. Don’t judge me! I love to watch the news in the mornings, and sitcom reruns from the tub late at night. It’s also super nice to watch tv when sorting and putting away laundry. It may not be the prettiest thing to hang on our bathroom wall, but I’ve grown attached to it, so I have to find a way to work around it.
After sharing a very small closet in our prior home, having a walk-in closet with his and her sides is a huge bonus. But I’ll admit that for as much as I love to organize, my skills are not at their finest in our closet. In fact, you’ll often find piles of clothes covering every inch of it. And that makes the lack of a door at the entrance to the closet a bit unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is the fact that the closet is reflected in the giant mirror, so there’s no escaping the mess.
I know some people say they want a big tub, but then never really use it. That’s not me. I love my tub!
And that photo mural above the tub is my one and only genuine effort to make the space feel more like us in the past eight years. Before moving to this house, we lived in a condo in downtown Denver, and that was our view. It was hard to give up, so we decided to bring it with us! This mural project was really simple and super inexpensive, but it’s not hung as well as I would like. It doesn’t look too bad from this angle, but if you could see it from the side you’d realize how wonky those frames sit on the wall. The mural will be staying, but since I have to take it down to paint the walls, I get a second chance at hanging it the right way!
Ok, so now that you’ve seen what the bathroom looks like now, let’s talk about where it’s headed in the next five weeks.
For the Fall 2014 One Room Challenge, I made over our master bedroom, and now I’m ready to finally bring some of that same style to the bathroom. Without further ado, here is a mood board that captures the style I’m going for…Graphic Glam.
